The Dino Knight of Greensburg| Greensburg and Latrobe Child and Family Photographer

little boy, dress up, imaginary

This boy of mine has quite the imagination. Right before we were leaving the house to meet Daddy before I met with my clients for the evening, he rushed into his room. I am sure that any of you with children are familiar with the, "I know that we are leaving right now, but I HAVE to get something before we go" emergency. Then he emerged from his room wearing a dinosaur tail, a knight's helmet, and was carrying a sword and exclaimed, "I am a Dino Knight!" I get it. You just never know what dangers may be lurking around the corners and in the allies of Greensburg.

So as we waited for his Daddy to pick him up, I was just watching him. As he was fighting imaginary bad guys and putting on a street performance for the people passing by and heading to their cars, I realized that I needed to document this. These days are fleeting. If parenthood has taught me nothing else, it has taught me that these moments go by too fast and as quickly as a certain phase/obession starts, it will end just as quick. As I watched him, I began to just take a few photos. I am so glad that I did, because these have turned out to be some of my favorite photos of him from this year.

I am so happy to have these photos of his silly faces and dramatic expressions.

He will say that he doesn't want to have his picture taken, but then he will look at me and strike all of these poses and pause ever so slightly in between each one. I know that means, he really does want me to take his picture.  I sneak a few shots in and he will pretend not to notice.

But then he "catches me" and we go right back to him pretending to not want the attention, and telling me to stop taking his photos. I keep taking them of course, I LOVE the grumpy faces even more than I love the smiley faces.

I mean, what is not to love? That furrowed brow and his puckered lips. It is all way too cute not to photograph and I know that someday his grumpy face will change. I need to make sure that I can always look back on his this grumpy face, I need to preserve this face forever.

This guy of mine won't always be fighting imaginary bad guys and wearing a Dino Knight costume. I am happy that I was able to grab a few photos of him protecting the streets of Greensburg. I am sure he gave a few people dinner conversation topics and he even had someone stop and tell him that they liked his tail. That, of course, totally made his day. I will close out this blog post with one more, very triumphant, photo of the Dino Knight of Greensburg. Thanks for letting me get a little personal today.

He can be my Knight in shining armor anytime! Love that boy and his personality.
